Not in My Backyard is the fifth episode of Season 1 of The Life and Times of Juniper Lee.

Plot

June and Ray-Ray are stuck babysitting a Batoot before someone upsets it.

Recap

There's trouble in town but it turns out to be a Batoot, which Fixer elves warn June are bad luck magnets and upsetting it will mess things up. So as Te Xuan Ze, June has to take it in and make sure it stays calm and happy so as to avoid bad luck happening. However, some Batoot poachers hear of the Batoot that has been separated from its herd and decide to steal it.

June deals with the poachers just fine but somehow the Batoot has escaped their attic and is now tearing up the Golden Bridge. June, Ray Ray and Monroe fly there on the giant chicken that Ray Ray released earlier in the episode to prevent disaster from happening. June is upset about her duty as Te Xuan Ze taking up so much time and energy and having to deal with the most mindless monsters and events but realizes she was wrong apologizes to the Batoot.

When the Batoot's herd returns, June asks if it's ready to return to it's herd and it says "Sure, let's rock." prompting her to be surprised that it can talk. Ray Ray tearfully says goodbye to which Monroe asks why he never says goodbye to him and Ray Ray asks back,"You went missing?"

Ray Ray tries to teach the chicken to catch a stick but the chicken sits on him like an egg instead. Monroe is heard from under the chicken as well and he's been under there for three hours.

Trivia

  • June's parents mention going to a musical on ice about american presidents where Kristi Yamaguchi plays Washington. Kristi Yamaguchi was a well-known Olympic ice-skater and spokesperson at the time of this reference being made.
